The history of Landhof Carnuntum
Whoever enters Landhof Carnuntum today quickly feels: This house has history.
For many decades, it was a lively meeting place in Prellenkirchen – a tavern with an attached bowling alley, firmly rooted in the town and appreciated by locals and visitors alike. People ate, laughed, played, and debated here. It was a place where the village met – simple, down-to-earth, and open to everyone.
When the building became quieter, it was Hannes Raser who, together with Raser Holding GmbH, rediscovered the potential behind the old walls. Not to replace something – but to preserve it, rethink it, and lead it into a new era.
In a renovation that lasted more than a year and a half, the house was modernized with great care: the substance was preserved, and new structures were created. The tavern became a place of hospitality – quiet, functional, stylish. A temporary home for people who want to arrive – whether for work or leisure.
Today, Landhof Carnuntum offers six fully equipped apartments on the first and second floors – with a private eat-in kitchen, bedroom, and everything needed for a longer stay. On the ground floor, the lounge and the courtyard still evoke the former sense of community – complemented by practical services such as laundry facilities and self-service vending machines.
Thus, the idea of the house remains: a place where people meet. Only quieter, more contemporary – and ready for many new stories.
Raser-Bayer family
Johann Raser, an organic farmer from Rohrau, and his wife Annemarie Raser, an organic winemaker from Höflein, have been running the Raser-Bayer wine tavern in Höflein (Link!) since 2004. Sustainability, regionality, and hospitality are not just buzzwords for the family business; they are lived – in organic farming, wind park and solar power projects, or ecological house construction.
The former tavern in Prellenkirchen had been empty for over 20 years. Johann Raser renovated the building from the ground up and constructed 2 apartments and 6 holiday flats in the building.
Landhof Carnuntum now offers space for long-term guests, cycling tourists, families, and nature lovers who want to explore the Carnuntum region between the Donau-Auen National Park and the Neusiedler See National Park. Fully equipped holiday apartments, self-service vending machines, a cozy common room, and the courtyard invite you to linger.
